RESPECT EARNED
Soldiers camp in trenches deep
Exhausted, but too tense to sleep,
Darkness fades and brings first light
Another day, another fight.
Invisible wounds that they carry
Grow deeper as they help to bury
Another comrade, once a friend
As they pray, that this war will end.
Holidays missed with family and friends
Relationships we hope will mend
We listen to injured cry and moan,
As loved ones wait alone at home.
As you arise to start your day
Remember those who paved the way
For freedom, that we all share,
Honour them, and a poppy wear.

Dedicated to all who served, and their families.
