FLOWERS OF RED
A symbol to honour those who bled,
A field of flowers, a field of red
In Flanders' field, and world wide
A poppy denotes Canadian pride
For those who chose to serve and die.
Whispers of silence, spirits abound,
No one there to make a sound
Where soldiers fought so long ago,
Headstones revealed, row on row,
The payment paid to fight their foe.
So much sorrow, too many gone,
Too young to hear an angel's song
Lives destroyed as families grieve,
Dreams now dashed, and no reprieve,
Dedicated, for what they believed.
Our thanks, we show again this year
Heads bowed, while some shed a tear
Our countrymen stand proud and tall
As bugles sound their mournful call,
A tribute, to those who gave it all.
Dedicated to all who served, and their families.
