Memories Forever
We've had our share of war to fight,
Flares, our only guiding light
To those lay dying.
So much sorrow; too much pain
To secure land as our gain
From troops opposed.
Barbed wire surrounds prisoners taken,
Their spirits low, but not forsaken
Battles continue on.
Decades gone; the years are past
Our memories though, they've been cast
Forever, with grave markers.
We cherish those now long dead
To honour, we wear a poppy red
Our hearts forever grateful.
Emotions, held in check all these years,
Now surface with the threat of tears
As we REMEMBER.
They gave their lives to defend
Say a prayer for it to end
And always, REMEMBER.
