Even Now
The years erode their names on stone
As we honour those who came, not home,
Symbolic Poppies each Remembrance Day
Is only one of many ways to say
We miss those, who fought long and hard
Giving their live to gain each yard
Of ground, amidst the muck and mire
Fighting for freedom - while under fire.
Those who were able to start life anew
Came home, some with wives, and families grew
But, we will never forget those who gave
Of themselves, so they could save
A way of life we all hold dear,
So bow your head if you should here
A trumpet sounding the Last Post
And "Remember" - who sacrificed the most.
