Too Many Years
Memorials erected across our fair land
To honour service now, in Afghanistan,
A new faction of Veterans arise.
Whether years ago or modern time
Grounds encrusted with a scarlet grime,
Of those who strive for victory.
Our country chose not to start
Four major wars; but still took part
Allied with those who fought.
Most Veterans now feeble and old
Reminisce of times when they were bold,
Forcing the enemy to flee.
Remember those, their young lives gone
A trumpet plays their final song,
A tribute to their bravery.
Wear a poppy with a sense of pride
To show respect for those who died,
Bequeathing us our Freedom.
Dedicated to all who served, and their families.
